After two landslide victories over the Tories in 1997 and 2001, Tony Blair’s Labour looks to be in a more precarious position going into the 2005 General Election. Britain’s controversial intervention in Iraq with the USA has seen the Prime Minister’s popularity plummet, and the government’s polling lead narrow significantly as the troubled Tory opposition restores some semblance of unity under former Home Secretary Michael Howard, and the Lib Dems take advantage of their anti war stance to increase their support.

Can Labour overcome their difficulties to win a record breaking third term in the style of their past two triumphs? Or will the Tories be able to bridge the gap and form their first government in eight years? And can charismatic Scot Charles Kennedy lead his Lib Dems to he breakthrough to major party status that they have been aspiring to for so long?

This scenario is a greatly updated and expanded version of the 1984 scenario that was begun by Victor. It was created by the Historical Scenario Commission on November 12, 2017 and it can be downloaded here: United States – 1984v2.0

This scenario, while traditionally a landslide victory for Reagan, allows for potentially a more competitive election as several what-if candidates are included, all of whom may have fared better than Mondale.

Further additions include: Governors and senators as endorsers and surrogates, historical events, primary dates set, issues updated, etcetera–a whole sale update to the other 1984 scenario.

  • Tory committed and leaning changed as they dropped support easily whereas in the real campaign they gained votes during the campaign
  • Major’s experience boosted to 5 and corruption reduced to 1 (the various scandals of the campaign are among the events added)
  • Candidate strengths of scandal hit candidates (Neil Hamilton etc. reduced to 1).

For Prime Minister Infinity – U.K.

With the US having closed the border due to fears of mad cow disease the cattle producers have had a disastorous Summer, the harvest has been mediocre and SPUDCO, a failed potato processing plant venture has cost $28 million in a province that’s already struggling economically. There’s a lack of education and 2/3 of the voters want a change. The province also faces its perennial problem of young people leaving and the lowest proportion of working age people in Canada. This scenario is an updated/improved version of the 1980 scenario that comes with the President Infinity game. It was created by the Historical Scenario Commission on November 5, 2017. It can be downloaded here: United States – 1980 – VCCzar with endorsers

This scenario boasts more events, and includes the US Senators for every state. Additionally, the candidates have been adjusted for closer realism. A simulation party has been added so that you can “watch” the election. Other tweaks have also been made.
