“Finally, there is optimism for the city of Glasgow 2 years after being Europe’s “City of Culture”. Regeneration is on the way, despite the depressed economy. After 13 years of Conservative British government, Labour are predicted to defeat them. Voters are rallying behind an ever-more dominant Labour Party from a Conservative government that has shown little care for the old shipbuilding industries. However, Labour do not have control of all 11 seats. The SNP took Glasgow Govan in a shock 1988 by-election win. Labour look for a whitewash, but could we see another shock gain or two?”
